The Story Of This Painting.

This Neo-Pointillist painting is on 2 sheets of 18"x24" plexiglass on top of 2 sheets of 24"x32" plexiglass. Approximately 24,000 dots! You can learn more about my journey to Pointillism here.

This painting is inspired by the Tahitian paintings of Paul Gauguin (1848–1903) and his muse and young wife Teha'amana.

Today Gauguin and his relationshop with the Tahitian girl Teha'amana is the subject of controversy. My representation of Teha'amana in this painting is a tribute to her and the genius of Gauguin's art.

I have added a touch of raw Fauvist color to the second sheet of dots. Gauguin is considered one of the precursors of the Fauvist movement with his use of vibrant expressionistic and nonnaturalistic colors some of which were applied directly from the tube.
