Notes:
Most of my recent paintings have been contemporary portraits of passionate, intelligent, and powerful women. Some of the most meaningful influencers in my life have been women. From my Grandmother instilling in me the belief that I can do anything I put my mind to. To the unconditional love of my Mother. To the many female mentors that have influenced all aspects of my life.
This exhibit also explores my journey to 3 dimensional neo-pointillism. These figurative paintings are created on multiple sheets of layered plexiglass. Each sheet of clear plexiglass contains thousands of tiny dots that create part of the final image. The effect creates a Neo-Pointillist 3 dimensional kinetic image that moves and changes as the viewer’s perspective changes.
My aesthetic focus is to create an image of drama, beauty and sensuality. Not just with the subject matter, but with the composition, materials and application of color. An image that is fun to view with unexpected surprises.
I love watching the dance and delight of the viewers eyes while discovering the movement, harmony and depth created by layer upon layer of images in my Neo-Pointillist paintings.

I'm extremely excited to share this exhibition with my friends. I will be exhibiting with four fabulous Florida Artists in the exhibition "Men Painting Women" Leonardo Montoya Pérez, Weldon Ryan, Wilson Romero, Herbie Martin.
All 5 of us are male artists whose work is mainly focused on the female form. Each approaches depicting women from very different perspectives, both artistically and intellectually. There is a rich history of male artists painting women. Some of the most important male artists in western history are known specifically for their paintings of women. Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus' in the mid-1480s. Leonardo da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa' in 1505. Vermeer's 'Girl with a Pearl Earring'in 1665. James McNeill Whistler's Arrangement in Grey and Black No. 1 (Whistler's Mother) in 1871. Gustav Klimt's 'Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I' in 1907. Andy Warhol's 'Shot Blue Marilyn' in 1964.
This exhibit is running for two months starting July 1st and going through August. The Orlando Downtown Library is a great venue for showing the large paintings of these five artists. Thank you Mike Donohue for making this exhibit possible. The Library's hours are Monday through Saturday, 10am - 6pm. 101 East Central Boulevard, Orlando

Human awareness of what is required to obtain and maintain physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health has advanced greatly in the last fifty years. Exercise, diet, counseling, outdoor activity, me-time, adequate rest and relaxation, spiritual and meditative activities, and experiences that nurture the body, mind, and soul —among other things— have joined the once-yearly visit to the doctor as standard activities that promote well-being. Create pieces inspired by what you and others do —or wish you were doing— to be healthy, happy, and whole. All forms of media are encouraged.
From 6-9 pm on the first Thursday of each month, Central Florida has an opportunity to discover local artists, listen to live music and mingle with an eclectic mix of people. There are cash bars serving wine, beer, soft drinks and water, and café offerings from area restaurants.
Admission to 1st Thursdays is $15 for visitors. Admission includes access to the Museum's featured exhibition. Parking is free at Orlando Loch Haven Park and overflow parking is available at the Orlando Science Center's parking garage for $5 per vehicle.

Summer Breeze

I went up to the "Honors" exhibit at the St Augustine Art Association last night. The "Honors" exhibit is for artists that have won an award in the Association's juried exhibits in the past two years. The best of the best! So I was very honored to have my painting 'Summer Breeze' in this exhibit.
I had a fun time visiting with Lisette Lewis and Xi Guo. Their work is fantastic and a must see, so I've included photos of their work here as well as some of my favorites from the exhibit.
Congratulations to all the winners and to Charles Dickinson for winning Best In Show for his fantastic painting 'Lost Among The Trees'. I just love the composition, color, dappled light, and the rich gooey application of paint. This painting is definitely a show stopper.

The Lovely Loleita and I had a wonderful time this past weekend in Sarasota participating in the annual Florida Artists Group (FLAG) Symposium. We palled around with Lillian Verkins and Fay Samimi Mirmirani and didn't get into too much trouble. LOL
Congratulations to all the winners as well as Janis Brothers of Area 8 for her Best of Show win. Looks like the Area I'm in (FLAG Area 5) cleaned up taking 6 of the 15 prizes. Congratulations to Area 5 winners: Lillian Verkins, Fay Samimi Mirmirani, Ellen Pavlakos, Katty Smith, Lynn Warnicki, and Peggy Banks.
The daiquiris helped cool us down on the hot weekend, so everyone had a really fun time. Also got my Yayoi Kusama dot fix at the Ringling Museum.

Summer Breeze

This event provides an opportunity for talented local artists who are members of ArtistsRegistry.com to showcase their work. Artists should interpret the theme to reflect the spirit of living and creating artwork in Florida.
From 6-9 pm on the first Thursday of each month, Central Florida has an opportunity to discover local artists, listen to live music and mingle with an eclectic mix of people. There are cash bars serving wine, beer, soft drinks and water, and café offerings from area restaurants.
Admission to 1st Thursdays is $15 for visitors. Admission includes access to the Museum's featured exhibition. Parking is free at Orlando Loch Haven Park and overflow parking is available at the Orlando Science Center's parking garage for $5 per vehicle.
