This Neo-Pointillist painting is on 2 sheets of 18"x24" plexiglass on top of 3 sheets of 24"x32" plexiglass. Approximately 24,000 dots! You can learn more about my journey to Pointillism here.

Caribbean Carnival Masquerade

I am so honored to have had the opportunity to create this painting "Wholey Mas". The image this painting is based on is from a photo by Weldon Ryan. Weldon goes all over the US and the Caribbean taking photos of these beautiful women dressed up in marvelous masquerade costumes during Carnivals. This image was taken at the 2019 West Indian Day Carnival on Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NYC. She's from a Carnival Mas Band called Stronjeh International. The theme for their road march is "Regalia the road is our Runway" and her section was Heavenly Bodies.

This is the first time I have used 4 color process CMYK halftone dots for the background of a painting. I love the impressionistic feel it gives the painting. For those of you wondering, there are over 12,000 dots on each of the two 18"x24" sheets of acrylic detailing the face.

I also included some delicate lace as a subtle texture for the white areas of the background on one of the 24"x32" sheets of acrylic.

This photo shows lace in this Neo-Pointillist painting.
