"I remember when I was a child during long nights watching my Mother, Grandmother, and my Sisters knitting and crocheting colorful textiles and beautiful patterns. One night I asked my Mom "can you teach me how to do that?" And she said to me, "I can show you, but don't let your father and your brothers see you." Now I know what she meant. Then she locked the door and patiently showed me her techniques. I felt wonderful just contemplating her face and hands, and admiring how fast she was, her abilities to choose the right colors and magical compositions.
Throughout the years her lessons transformed into romantic poetry and transitioned into my canvases, filling them with romance, feelings of love for her, and the power of her in me.
My paintings are a reflection of her stories that bring me peace.
My fabrics are my meditation.
My space is that locked room full of her tranquility.
My birds are the messangers of love for her and our freedom.
My colors are eternal poetry.
These poems of colors, like a mirror, bring me closer to her in me.
